• Nano-texture display option: a matte finish that markedly reduces reflections — worth seeking out if you work near windows.
• Memory: the 14-inch M4 starts at 16GB rather than 8GB.
• Thunderbolt 5 — but only on M4 Pro and M4 Max. The base M4 has Thunderbolt 4. This is the single most common mistake in used listings.
• Finishes: space black and silver on the 14-inch.

If fast external storage matters to your work, read the specification carefully. Thunderbolt 5 is only on the M4 Pro and M4 Max — the base M4 ships with Thunderbolt 4. Plenty of used listings advertise "M4 with Thunderbolt 5" and are simply wrong, and it is not something you can add later.

The nano-texture display is the other thing worth hunting for. It is a factory option rather than a setting, so a machine either has it or it does not. In a bright Dubai office or anywhere near a window, it makes a real difference — and because it was an upgrade when new, it is worth asking about specifically.
