Used Mac Inspection Dubai — 27-Point Pre-Purchase Check
Buying a used Mac from Dubizzle, Facebook Marketplace, or a private seller in Dubai is a minefield. Activation Lock, hidden water damage, battery cycle counts above 1,200, and swapped logic boards are common. MacUAE's pre-purchase inspection service catches all of it for AED 199 — refunded against your purchase price if you later buy a Mac from us.
What's Tested in the 27-Point Inspection
Hardware Integrity (12 points)
• Logic-board diagnostic (Apple Service Diagnostic / ASD-equivalent)
• Battery: cycle count + max capacity vs design capacity
• Screen: dead pixels, backlight bleed, image retention, burn-in (OLED-equivalent test)
• Keyboard: every key registers (Touch Bar models include Touch Bar mapping)
• Trackpad: multi-touch, force-click, palm rejection
• All ports tested with reference cables (USB-C, Thunderbolt 3/4, MagSafe 3, HDMI, SD, audio)
• Wi-Fi 6 / 6E throughput against our 1 Gbps reference router
• Bluetooth pairing range
• Speakers (frequency sweep) and microphones (3-mic array on supported models)
• FaceTime HD camera + image quality
• Touch ID enrollment (5 fingers)
• Thermals: 15-minute Cinebench R23 stress test, fan ramp curve, throttling check
Storage + Memory (5 points)
• SSD health: TRIM status, total bytes written (lifetime)
• SSD read/write speed against Apple's spec for that generation
• RAM: full diagnostic pass (memtest86-equivalent)
• Swap file / virtual memory behaviour under load
• Sleep / wake / lid-close behaviour
Identity + Authenticity (5 points)
• Serial-number lookup on Apple's database (verifies model, year, warranty, AppleCare+)
• iCloud Activation Lock check (CRITICAL — locked Macs are bricks)
• Find My Mac status (must be off before sale)
• "MDM" / corporate enrollment check (Macs from companies often phone home)
• Logic-board serial vs case serial match (catches Macs assembled from parts)
Software + Reset (3 points)
• macOS version supported on the chip
• Recovery partition functional (you'll need this if anything goes wrong later)
• Clean macOS reinstall offered after purchase (free)
Cosmetics + Accessories (2 points)
• Cosmetic grade: A (near-new), B (light wear), C (visible marks but functional)
• Charger / box / proof-of-purchase verification
How It Works
1. Book a slot. WhatsApp +971 55 463 6100 with the Mac model and your preferred time. Same-day slots usually available 9am–10pm Mon–Sat.
2. Bring the Mac to our Dubai Media City office. Concord Tower, Office 45, 10th Floor — 5 minutes from Dubai Marina, 8 minutes from Palm Jumeirah. Free 2-hour visitor parking on the ground floor. Or book pickup within Dubai for AED 50.
3. Watch the inspection (or wait in the lounge). 45–60 minutes for a MacBook, longer for desktop Macs. We narrate what we're checking; sellers are welcome to wait with you.
4. Get the written PDF report. Same-day delivery on WhatsApp + email. Includes recommended max purchase price for the UAE used-Mac market.
Why AED 199 Is a Bargain
A typical used MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro in Dubai sells for AED 4,500–6,000 privately. If the seller is hiding a swapped battery (AED 800–1,200 to replace), a logic-board fault (AED 2,500+), or — worst case — an Activation-Locked Mac that becomes a paperweight the moment you take it home, you've lost far more than AED 199 of due diligence would have cost.
We've inspected over 1,800 Macs since 2022. Roughly 1 in 6 inspected Macs fail at least one critical check that the seller didn't disclose. That's a 16% chance you're walking away from a bad deal with hard evidence in hand.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does the Mac inspection cost?
AED 199 flat fee for any Mac (MacBook, iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Studio, Mac Pro). The fee is fully refunded against your purchase price if you decide to buy the Mac through MacUAE after inspection. If you walk away from the deal because we found a serious fault, you only lose the AED 199 — much cheaper than buying a broken Mac for AED 4,000+.
What does the 27-point inspection cover?
Logic-board health, battery cycle count + max capacity, screen test (dead pixels, backlight bleed, burn-in, image retention), keyboard (all 78+ keys), trackpad force-click + multi-touch, all ports (USB-C, Thunderbolt, MagSafe, HDMI, SD), Wi-Fi 6/6E speed, Bluetooth pairing, speakers, microphones, FaceTime camera, Touch ID, fans + thermals under load, SSD health (TRIM + write cycles), RAM diagnostic, GPU stress test, iCloud Activation Lock status, serial number cross-check on Apple's database, Mac Find My status, original-box / charger verification, and visual cosmetic grading (A / B / C).
How long does the inspection take?
About 45–60 minutes for a MacBook, 30–40 minutes for a Mac Mini, 60–75 minutes for an iMac or Mac Studio. You can wait at our Dubai Media City office (free coffee, Wi-Fi) or drop the Mac off and come back. We send a written PDF report by WhatsApp the same day.
Can you inspect a Mac from a private seller on Dubizzle or Facebook Marketplace?
Yes — that's our most common use case. You arrange to meet the seller, bring the Mac to our office (or have us collect it within Dubai for AED 50), and we inspect it before you hand over money. The seller is welcome to wait with you. If we find a problem, you walk away with our written report — sellers rarely argue with a 27-point Apple-spec diagnostic.
Do I get a written report?
Yes — a 3-page PDF with each test result, the battery cycle count + capacity, photographic evidence of any cosmetic issues, the IMEI / serial number lookup against Apple's database, and our recommended max purchase price based on UAE market value. The report is yours regardless of whether you buy through MacUAE.
